Checklist

1.                   PLEASE BE ON TIME. If you are late, your allotted time will be shortened so that other students do not have to suffer from your tardiness. If you can’t make the appointment, please offer the courtesy of a notification as soon as you know you will be unable to attend. A missed conference is an absence, and will affect your grade accordingly.

2.                    Please determine the location of instructor office hours before the day of your conference, so that you won’t get lost and be late.

3.                   Bring your notebook/binder with ALL reading/writing assignments for the term.

4.                   Bring ALL drafts of essay(s).

5.                   Bring all written feedback and/or notes from writing workshops, tutors, friends, or anyone who has offered feedback on your work.

  6.                   Bring course textbook(s).

7.                   Draw a graphic organizer of your essay, including the thesis, the main ideas and supporting details.

8.                   Identify the thesis statement for your essay.

9.                   Identify the part of your essay that you are most proud of.

10.                Write down at least three questions, problems, or points for discussion during our conference. These may involve your schoolwork, performance in class, specific assignments, or reading and study skills in general.

11.                Write down your goal(s) for this conference. What can your instructor do to help you make the most of this time?
